This review has been a while in coming. Octopath Traveller has been one of the most satisfying games I’ve played in a while because it checked off a lot of boxes with regards to what I like. For those that dont know, Octopath traveller is a JRPG (Japanese role playing game) from Square Enix that …

Book Review: A Natural History of Dragons (The Memoirs of Lady Trent #1) – Marie Brennan
TL;DR review: Fantasy in the form of a memoir where the narrator goes over how they came to love dragons, and the extent to which they had to go in order to pursue their interest. Really easy to read. Gives off cozy vibes. Definitely recommended. A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan is the …
Series Review: Demon Slayer – Koyoharu Gotouge
The last anime I watched was Spy x Family and I only picked that up because I already loved the manga so I was aware what it was about. I went into Demon Slayer with no prior knowledge other than it was quite popular; and apparently for good reason. Demon Slayer occurs in a world …

Series Review: The Divine Cities Trilogy – Robert Jackson Bennett
In a world where magic and gods used to roam the land, how does a world move forward when these divinities, and their miracles, no longer exist; or do they? The Divine Cities trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett dives into this vast world, with each book told from a different character’s viewpoint, and each at …

2022 year review
Hey there! Happy new year! I’ve been quite busy over the past month or so as I’ve started a new job and the new schedule has taken some time to get used to. It’s gotten a bit better over the last week so this should be the start of a more regular weekly round-up newsletter. …
Book Review: Legends and Lattes – Travis Baldree
I have been a fan of Travis Baldree ever since I heard his narration of Will Wight's Cradle series as well as TurtleMe's Beginning after the End series. When I found out he had his own book out, and it was a cozy fantasy, I just had to add it to my TBR. While it …

Lightbringer is the first novel in Sara Richards' new superhero fantasy series. The story is set in the city of Ancora where super powered individuals called the Knights maintain the …

Book Review: Before the Coffee Gets Cold – Toshikazu Kawaguchi
Before the coffee gets cold is a story about a cafe where, urban legend says, you can travel back in time. But there is a catch. In fact, there are several conditions that need to be followed for this time travel to work. The gist of it is that a person can travel through time …

Book Review: Roots and Steel – Casey White
This is the first entry into Casey White's CoreVerse series of books. As its tagline says this book is essentially a monster-hunting LitRPG. There's magic, there are monsters, there are people called hunters who, well, hunt said monsters, and there's a progression system that one usually sees in RPG games. The story follows Trellin, a …

Book Review: Thor – The Saga of Gorr the God Butcher – Jason Aaron
The new Thor movie “Thor: Love and Thunder” introduced the character of Gorr to the MCU. While this portrayal by Christian Bale was different from the Gorr in the comics, this didn’t come as much of a surprise since the MCU is a different timeline as compared to the comic variant. That being said when …

Series Review: Fred, the Vampire Accountant – Drew Hayes
I stumbled upon Drew Hayes when I was looking for a superhero fix and had heard about his series superpowereds. While checking on goodreads I stumbled upon this other series called ‘Fred the vampire accountant’ series. I have to say that did make me chuckle a bit and the first book’s title, ‘The Utterly Uninteresting …

Series Review: He who fights with Monsters – Shirtaloon
This has been on my TBR for a while now. I got thrown into the LitRPG scene I think about a year ago with Will Wight's Cradle Series. I remember devouring those 9 books (at the time) over a period of 3 weeks. I'll upload a review of that sometime in the future. I followed …

Book Review: Kings of the Wyld
I remember seeing this book in passing but didn’t pick it up because, going by the cover, I assumed it was some dark fantasy/horror related story (yes, I judged a book by its cover). I was way off base in that it wasn’t really dark, nor was it from the horror genre. Its definitely fantasy …
Discworld, and where to start.

Written by Sir Terry Pratchett from 1983 till his passing in 2015 (The 41st book was released posthumously in 2015), these books have captivated people, old and young, with their witty dialogue and loveable characters. The books rely on satire to …
