When I heard that there would be Lego Star Wars game that had all 9 movies as part of the gameplay I was a little excited. The last lego game I played was Lego DC Super-Villains, and I don’t think I got past the starting 15 min or so. This made me apprehensive in picking up the lego star wars game but in the end I couldn’t resist, and I’m so glad I didn’t. One of the reasons I couldn’t continue the previous game was not because it was a bad game; the game was actually fun the little I played. It’s because I needed a game that I could play in short bursts without having to pay too much attention to what’s happening on the screen, basically on autopilot. Lego star wars looks to be almost perfect for that.
There is so much to do in these games but its also so simple to pick up and play. For someone who’s watched these movies multiple times, I already know what’s going to happen and so this makes it easier for me to blank out and just play without worrying too much about the story dialogues at times. There are 9 stories that cover the 9 movies of the skywalker saga.

Each contains a story mode and a free mode, the latter of which can be unlocked once the story mode has been played. There are 3 starting points corresponding to the first movie of each trilogy. Completing one will unlock the next story in the trilogy. There are several collectibles, characters, and upgrades to be found and the free play mode allows us to roam around scenarios and areas that in the story mode we’d normally not waste time looking through. The maps are extensive, you’ll encounter several side missions , and the action is very impressive for a lego game (this is my first lego game played so I was pretty impressed).

And that’s not all, there’s also a galaxy mode that allows one to travel to parts of the galaxy that have been unlocked through playing the story mode, to just roam arond, find collectibles, perform missions, and break stuff. One can also enter into the space around the planet you intend to travel to, to fight against the empire’s troops. These were some of the most fun I’ve had just flying around, evading and blasting the enemy. It’s been so much fun playing this and I’m only done with the ‘A new hope’ storyline.

The rest of the time I’ve just been roaming around breaking stuff (as is typical for a lego game I’ve heard), and just having a ball of a time. Definitely recommend this game to any star wars fan, and to anyone who wants to try out one of the many lego games out there. You can’t go wrong with this. It’s definitely not a trap. Until next time!
