Book Review: Newcomer (Detective Kaga #2) – Keigo Higashino

I can’t get enough of Keigo Higashino. Salvation of a Saint has me picking up mystery books and thrillers. Considering I was in need of a break from fantasy this run of mystery / thrillers seemed to come at the right time. Newcomer is from the Detective Kaga series by Keigo Higashino, the first of which was Malice (first from the translated works of course). This was a little slower compared to Salvation of a Saint but no less enjoyable. As always with his books, I found it a very relaxed enjoyable read. So much so that I had dreams of interviewing people in the same vein as Detective Kaga. This book really emphasises the importance of the little details, and how you need every small piece if you’re going to finish a puzzle and see the entire picture. These books I’d recommend to anyone.

Rating: 4/5
