I recently picked up some games on the nintendo switch. Haven’t played them much but the little I did see I really liked.
The games include:
- Spirit of the North
- Aragami
- Unravel Two
- Lego DC Supervillains
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Slay the Spire
- Dead Cells
- Pokemon Legends Arceus
Spirit of the North – Picked this up because it was on sale. Yet to play it but looks like a cute game.
Aragami – Its been, I think, 2 weeks or so since I bought these games and I cant for the life of me figure out why I still haven’t even opened Aragami yet. I’ve had my eye on the game ever since I had first played ‘Mark of the Ninja‘. Aragami also follows a similar thread. Maybe I haven’t started the game because I know that I will be obsessed with this till It’s finished, and I can’t afford to spend a lot of time at the moment. I’ll post an update whenever I do get down to it. I am excited for this though.
Unravel Two – This game is very cute. Played an hour or so and just love the puzzles and the setting. Its even more fun when playing multiplayer, and I am saving this for when the girlfriend has time on her hands.
Lego DC Supervillains – Another pickup solely because it was on sale, though I was curious since I’d never played a lego game before. I think I’ve played only 30 min of this, still feels like just the introduction is going on, but I can see that it’s quite fun. I dont see myself spending a lot of time playing this but only time will tell.
Ori and the Blind Forest – One of the most beautiful games I’ve played in a while. Visually stunning and the music score sets the right mood for whatever transpires on screen. Have played only a little bit but loved every minute of it. This game I do want to finish so that I can pick up and play the sequel ‘Ori and the Will of the Wisps’. Love it!
Slay the Spire – One of my favourite card games to play. Brought back a lot of memories from the duel masters days. Very simple and easy to learn while also quite challenging in terms to making it to certain checkpoints within the game. The premise is you pick a character who is workng his way up a spire. Each character would give you a certain set of cards to play with. Each level of the spire contains creatures to fight, rest stops, bosses etc. There are multiple paths up the spire and you have to pick the best one that will get you up the spire safely. You can see what you face on each path which helps to makes the choice (or so you think). Health you lose is only partially refreshed at the rest stops so the choice of path becomes all the more important. Takes a lot more planning than it would seem at first glance. Guarantee anyone will be obsessed with this game. I own this on the pc as well so clearly I love this game.
Dead Cells – Insanely fun metroidvania. I don’t see myself ever finishing this since I dont think I’ll ever have the time or patience to sit long enough to do so. Regardless, this game has been a lot of fun and, since the levels are procedurely generated, usually never the same experience twice. Fans of the game Hades will enjoy this.
Pokemon Legends Arceus – Recently released pokemon game which throws away the basic formula of the past games. No longer are there gyms, elite four, trainiers to battle at every turn. All you have to do is explore, catch pokemon and create the very first pokedex. So far have quite enjoyed the game and will probably spend the most time here of the lot.
Edit: Can confirm I have spent the most time on Pokemon Legends Arceus. Already around 15 hours or so in. I like.
If anyone reading this has played any of these games, or has any suggestions of their own that I should check out, drop a comment and let me know!
Until next time. Cheers!
